About this Dog
*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Meet Gladys, a delightful "Pocket Pyr" who proves that great things come in small packages! This sweet, young, and confident Great Pyrenees mix was found as a stray by Louisiana Animal Control before coming to NGPR. She has an active and agile spirit. Already housebroken and food-motivated, Gladys is currently learning to walk on leash and shows great potential for training. She's thriving in her foster home alongside 10 other dogs, demonstrating her love for canine companionship and play. She loves being indoors and outside, and has discovered a passion for boat riding, swimming, and beach trips. Gladys excels at meeting new people and integrates well into group settings. Gladys would thrive in an active family home with other dogs (especially with a playful male canine companion), kids, and a secure 5-foot fence. She can be protective of her food, so she should be fed separately until she learns that meals are no longer scarce. Perfect for anyone seeking the wonderful Pyrenees temperament without the traditional size, this small but mighty girl is ready to bring joy, protection, and plenty of personality to her forever family who can provide the active lifestyle she craves. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
