About this Dog
Maverick is an almost 3-year-old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix who is a very sweet, intelligent, playful, and loving dog. He enjoys playing, training, and spending time with the people he trusts.
Maverick is a fearful dog and can be reactive toward unfamiliar people, young children, and certain loud or unexpected noises. When he becomes uncomfortable, he may bark, growl, or try to create distance and leave the situation. He has been working with a trainer, and we have also been working on muzzle training and other management techniques.
Because Maverick is fearful around young children, we believe he would be happiest and safest in an adult-only home. Ideally, his new home would be in a quiet, less-populated area with someone who has experience with fearful or reactive dogs and is willing to continue his training.
We love Maverick very much, and rehoming him is not a decision we have taken lightly. Our goal is to find him a patient, understanding family who can give him the calm environment, stability, and quality of life he deserves.

How will Maverick receive the contribution?
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Maverick, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Maverick's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Maverick was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Maverick’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
What happens to unclaimed funds?
We want the Maverick’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Maverick’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
