About this Dog
Mars is a neutered pitbull/boxer mix, roughly 3 years old. He's been great around people so far, is likely house trained and loves going for car rides. He's lived with another dog previously, but introductions are rough because he can't just ease into it. He feels the need to jump on the other dog and cause drama, so a muzzle is a must for first meetings. Once he's got that out of his system, he's able to go about his business just fine. Mars has had a rough go of things in his short life. He's had four homes and spent the last year and a half living out of a vehicle with his most recent owner. His owner ended up incarcerated and hasn't succeeded with making accommodations for Mars, so Mars is in need of a foster home at the very least to get him out of the City's dog pound. Our ordinance states we're to euthanize after the required hold period, but as City Clerk I just can't bring myself to do that. I'm taking care of him on a volunteer basis, but he's been in our kennels for a month now and needs somewhere to go.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Mars was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Mars’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Mars’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Mars’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
