About this Dog
Meet Sugar - and her adorable ears and fantastic toothy grin! This sweetie has been with us FAR TOO LONG - she came to us in January 2023 as a local stray and after never being reclaimed, she was spayed, vaccinated and is all up-to-date waiting for her forever home. Sugar also had a health scare and emergency exploratory surgery during her first few weeks with us because she was vomiting after eating and couldn't seem to keep her food down. The veterinarian found she was battling an infection in her abdomen - but luckily the surgery was a success and Sugar was on the road to recovery and waiting for her forever family! Over the past year we did place Sugar on a daily medication (Apoquel) for allergies as she does seem to have red, itchy areas on her coat that flare up from time to time, and the medication seems to help keep her more comfortable, as well as being fed a kibble for sensitive skin. Sugar may now be a little spoiled with all the attention from many Safe Haven volunteers over the past two years ..... she is a known favorite, but shhh.....don't tell the other pups! ;) Sugar would do best in a home as an only pet, as she does not get along well with other dogs nor cats. Once you're able to meet Sugar - you will know, Sugar is the only pet you will need to fill your heart and she is a fantastic cuddlebug! Sugar is a very strong and active girl - always on the go!! She would love an active family with many long walks in her future - a fenced yard would be wonderful for this active girl as well! Strangers do seem to frighten Sugar and she has a pretty big bark at first to alert us that there is a new person there....but as soon as a new volunteer offers her a snack or treat - she is good to go! Interested in meeting or adopting Sugar? Please complete an online adoption application for her which can be found on our website at www.wesavepets.com. Once the application is submitted, a volunteer will be in contact with you shortly.

Adopt Sugar and Receive Sugar's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Sugar's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Sugar's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Sugar, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Sugar's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Sugar was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Sugar’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Sugar’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Sugar’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
