About this Cat
Meet Payten, a true sweetheart who is ready to find her forever home! Payten is a mellow and affectionate cat who absolutely adores getting pets You'll notice Payten is FIV+, which is a lot less scary than it sounds. FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, and it's a common condition in cats. Think of it like a cat version of HIV—it weakens the immune system over time, but it's not a death sentence and cats with FIV can live long, happy, and normal lives. Here's what you need to know about FIV in cats: It's not contagious to people or other animals. You can't catch FIV from Payten, and your dog or other pets won't either. It's rarely contagious to other cats. The virus is primarily spread through deep bite wounds, so as long as Payten is spayed and lives in a peaceful home, there's very little risk of her spreading it to other cats. Many FIV+ cats successfully live with FIV-negative cats without any issues. She can live a normal life! Payten may need a little extra care to keep her immune system strong, like regular vet check-ups and a healthy diet, but otherwise, she'll live just like any other cat. Payten is the perfect companion for anyone looking for a calm, loving cat. If you have a quiet home and a big heart, please consider opening your home to this special girl. Come meet her and see what a treasure she is!

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Payten (FIV+) was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Payten (FIV+)’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Payten (FIV+)’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Payten (FIV+)’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
