About this Dog
Meet Hippo! This is a 5 year old female, North American house hippo...seeking a house! Hippo is a wonderfully spirited and friendly girl, and her name certainly suits her as she is a short and squat little thing with a mighty powerful personality! Hippo loves people, almost as much as she loves playing fetch! She may be on the shorter side, but she's still a strong girl at around 55-60 pounds and can pull quite hard on a leash. She enjoys walks and we know that with a little training she will start to ease up on her leash pulling! Hippo seems to be dog friendly, but is perhaps most interested in hanging with fun people that like to play with her! She is not a match in a home with cats and has not perfected her dog to dog manners well enough yet to live easily with another dog. Hippo's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccines and monthly preventatives plus a free basic training class at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha. If you would like to meet Hippo, please submit an adoption application on our website (Adopthope.org). Our adoption process includes a vet history check and a home visit, we do require that adopters have a history of having kept all animals as indoor pets only, altered and kept current on vaccines and preventatives.

Adopt Hippo and Receive Hippo's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Hippo's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Hippo's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Hippo, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Hippo's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Hippo was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Hippo’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Hippo’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Hippo’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
