About this Dog
Sophia is a 7 year old, super cute mixture of what we guess is dachshund mixed with something that gives her a little taller legs, so maybe a mini Australian shepherd? She's beautiful but quite shy. She will need some time to warm up to you, and she will need a safe space to go when she's feeling overwhelmed. A crate or space under a piece of furniture will do, she isn't too picky! Sophia currently lives with other dogs and would do okay with another small, calm dog. Big dogs and children can be a bit intimidating to her. Once she realizes you're not scary, she will hang out on the couch with you, happily watch tv, and enjoy getting pets and snuggles. She likes to know where you are and if you aren’t where she expects you to be, she’ll track you down to find you. She enjoys being outside in the yard, doesn’t mind the rain and is mostly house trained. She will use pee pads in the house if they are available to her. She gets very excited for food, so you’ll have to be careful not to overfeed her because she has a tendency towards love handles (that are honestly adorable). Sophia is very sweet, and she will need someone with patience who will allow her the space and time she needs for big adjustments. If you are looking for a low maintenance dog and have a quiet home, Sophia must be the dog for you! Sophia's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and prevention, plus a free basic obedience class at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals to be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping pets altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background check, vet history check, and a home visit. If you would like to meet Sophia please submit an adoption application for consideration through our website, www.adopthope.org

Adopt Sophia and Receive Sophia's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Sophia's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Sophia's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Sophia, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Sophia's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Sophia was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Sophia’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Sophia’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Sophia’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
