About this Dog
Our delightful and adorable Ms.Mac-a-doodle-do, or simply Mac to her friends, is searching for a forever family. Sweet Mac (FKA Maple) was adopted from Pal's Place when she was just a wee lass of 10 weeks (D.O.B Jan 2021). Pal's Place rescued Mac and her six littermates from an animal control facility in Kentucky. Mac just turned 3 years old in January and weighs 35 pounds. A DNA test of a littermate revealed a breed mix of half Boxer with an assortment of terrier breeds (including Boston and Jack) comprising the other half, all combining perfectly to create the wonderful girl we today know as Mac. She has been very well-loved and cared for her entire life; however, her previous adopter suffered from health issues that unfortunately left them unable to care for Mac any longer. Lovingly and tearfully, she was surrendered back to Pal's Place for placement with another family. Mac is a small pooch with a big personality! She has inherited many traits from her Boxer ancestry and is energetic, playful, comical, and clownish. She can be a bit bashful in new environments and when meeting new people but she warms up quickly and it does not take long before her upbeat, cheerful, and slightly cheeky demeanor shines through. As serious as Mac is about having a good time and playing, she is equally serious about cuddling, snuggling, and loving her humans. A social dog, she thrives in the company of others. She loves the canine friends in her foster home and was raised with cats. Her previous adopter did note that Mac was never aggressive with the cats, she was always trying to engage them in play, much the annoyance of the senior cats in the home. Because of this, we feel she'd be best suited to a home with dog-savvy, confident cats. Mac is well-behaved in the home, crate-trained, and housebroken. Mac is prone to producing urinary crystals, a fairly common condition, especially among many terrier breeds. Her condition is easily managed with a prescription diet of urinary S/O food, which is comparable in cost to other premium dog foods. She is also spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for a family! Mac is in a foster home on Chicago's northwest side and can be visited by appointment only after an adoption application has been completed and approved. Her adoption fee to the rescue is $375. This fee helps to cover the costs of caring for the rescued dogs of Pal's Place. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an adoption application unless you are ready to meet and welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. For more information or to receive an application, email [email protected] or visit palsplacerescue.org. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly, and if it has been 48 hours without a reply, please follow up with an email to ensure your application was received. • Mac's adoption fee is $375.
