About this Dog
Hello, I am writing on behalf of my child who is in a crisis situation with their dog. Leo just moved to Portland a few months ago and has since been diagnosed with a challenging mental health issue. This has made it no longer feasible for him to take care of his dog. Meet Obi! He’s a sweet, playful and active 3 year old pittie. I took him in from the street at just 2 weeks old, raised him in St. Louis and brought him on a cross country move to Portland. While Obi is adjusting as best as he can to his new life, I am limited in my capacity to provide him with the support he needs as I navigate several major life transitions. Obi is a protective guy who will resort to defensive behaviors when not given the structure and support he needs to thrive. Obi completed a board and train in August 2024 and learned place, crate and leash work, social manners with other dogs and e-collar conditioning. With proper management, guidance and structure, Obi is an easygoing, reliable companion. His ideal home is active, playful and prepared to continue his training. Obi has lived with another dog and a cat. Obi is very protective and while never fully biting anyone can exhibit extremely aggressive behavior when feeling his territory or people are threatened by strangers or meeting certain strangers or animals without an introduction. Obi also resource guards and must be fed apart from other animals. The owner is now in an emergency situation where he will lose his housing shortly if he is unable to find a place for Obi. He has been turned away from several shelters and is reaching the end of his options. **** Breed: pit bull **** Pet Link: https://www.nokillnetwork.org/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2184645&flag=1

Adopt Obi and Receive Obi's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Obi's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Obi's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Obi, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Obi's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Obi was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Obi’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Obi’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Obi’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
