About this Dog
Hello! We are based in Portland, Maine, and looking for a new home for our 5-year-old cattle dog, Zinny, due to some household changes - we recently had a newborn and Zinny's protective qualities have been exacerbated. Zinny has been a great family pet for about 4 years. Our daughter (currently 8) was 4 when we adopted Zinny, and Zinny has bonded closely with all of us. However, we've had to restructure our home with various dog gates, keep Zinny crated, or keep her in a muzzle when the baby is out and about. This has made life harder for Zinny. Zinny can be very protective of her people, and she's had two bite incidents. Both were provoked and involved new people coming into the house, and did not require medical attention. Any potential adopter would need to be prepared to keep Zinny at a safe distance, and/or muzzled, when meeting new people in the house. We've tried out a couple potential adopters with Zinny. The first didn't end up working out because they had a cat and Zinny didn't get along with the cat, though Zinny otherwise did great. The second didn't adhere to our guidelines about Zinny and meeting new people, and when a visitor reached near Zinny's face, Zinny inflicted a bite that ripped the person's pants but did not break skin. This is really hard for us because in most ways, Zinny is just a lovely dog. She's very snuggly, affectionate, smart, and funny. She's a fantastic companion for walks, hikes, or drives - or just lazing around the house. Zinny is housebroken, in good health, and up to date on vaccinations (though due for an appointment next month). **** Breed: Cattle dog mix **** Pet Link: https://www.nokillnetwork.org/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2185754&flag=1

Adopt Zinny and Receive Zinny's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Zinny's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Zinny's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Zinny, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Zinny's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Zinny was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Zinny’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Zinny’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Zinny’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
