About this Dog
My name is Luke Olmos, and I recently took in a family member's dog that they could no longer care for. His name is Rusty. He's (as of 9/5/2026) fully vaccinated. I have the paperwork from Roswell VCA, but he is not neutered. Rusty is a 2-5-year-old full-blooded Australian Shepard and has come from 2 different homes before coming into my care. At his most recent home, he was stuck outside in a 20x20 fenced-in area for I'm not sure how long. Rusty is also missing toes on his back paws, one on each foot. When I asked the vet what could have caused this, they said it could be from birth, or something must have happened to him. This does not affect his ability to play or do normal dog things. Rusty has both good and bad moments; his biggest struggle is anxiety and reactivity. He always wants to be near me and if he can't get near me, he whines until he finally calms down. His reactivity is another issue. He has just gotten over his fear of cars driving near him and walks best with a prong collar. Rusty has no known temperamental issues and is great around my girlfriend's dog, but I am unsure of how he will behave around others. He is very calm around men; women (who are not my girlfriend) tend to stress him out, and I am unsure why. I have not brought him around children due to his anxiety, and I do not know how he may react if put in a spot like that. It pains me to write this email, but after visiting your website, I feel this might be the best place and opportunity to find a new home that can provide for him.

Adopt Rusty and Receive Rusty's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Rusty's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

How will Rusty receive the contribution?
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Rusty, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Rusty's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Rusty was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Rusty’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
What happens to unclaimed funds?
We want the Rusty’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Rusty’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
