About this Dog

Sugar was abandoned in our cul-de-sac a few months ago. It took us about a month to catch her after we first spotted her in September because she was so scared of leashes and kennels. It seems she has experienced some kind of abuse, besides being abandoned. When she showed up with a fresh head wound one day, I redoubled my efforts to catch her to get her off the streets. It looked like someone had hit her in the head with a stick. We finally were able to catch her and had her scanned for a microchip, which she didn't have. I had her spayed and vaccinated. The vet said she appears to be a small pittie mix and about a year old. We named her Sugar because she is the color of brown sugar. Sugar is very cautious around new people and can be reactive until that trust is built. Sugar is gentle and sweet with me and my boys--ages 9, 11 and 13. She loves my cats, although she does like to chase them. Sugar is a very smart and treat motivated and has a willingness to please her people. She is crate trained and rarely has an accident. We feel a home with other dogs would be a good fit! She LOVES other dogs! She would do great in a home with only grown-ups or older children. Sugar is also a GREAT cosleeper and can cuddle all night without waking her person.

How will Sugar receive the contribution?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Sugar, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Sugar's contribution here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Sugar was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Sugar’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Sugar’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Sugar’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
