About this Cat
My husband and I are so upset to be doing this, but feel as though it is our last resort.
We are trying to rehome our 3 year old disabled tuxedo cat named Darcy. We adopted him from the Carrollton Cat Cafe as a kitten, and he is neutered, up-to-date on all of his shots and chipped. I have all of his records from VCA Carrollton if you would like them.
Mr. Darcy has 3 legs, and is currently dealing with a staph infection on his only back leg. He is being treated with antibiotics, and has gone through 2 months worth, but we have had to quarantine him in a cage for the last 2 months so he does not injure himself.
We will be giving him away for free and just want him to go to a good home.
I know this is a big ask, but he is such a sweet, loving, lazy boy who deserves love and not to be euthanized.
He does well with other cats, dogs and children. He sleeps almost 23 hours a day (maybe an exaggeration, but it does seem like it!) and is litter box trained.
This is not an easy decision, but please message me for any extra details! We are in Carrollton and willing to travel for a meet-up.
Our local animal shelter offers a $25 surrender fee, but I worry they will immediately euthanize him. I have tried asking friends, family, coworkers and Facebook groups.

How will Mr. Darcy receive the contribution?

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Mr. Darcy was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Mr. Darcy’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
What happens to unclaimed funds?
We want the Mr. Darcy’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Mr. Darcy’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
