About this Dog
Hi! I’m Darla! My profile says I’m a 75-lb., 5-year-old Rottweiler, but I think I’m a mermaid. If you let me, I’d swim in your pool all day. Are you looking for a pool or lake buddy? I’m it. I’ve been learning to swim in my foster family’s pool. They even got me a doggy life vest so I can swim even longer. I love to fetch my water toy, tennis ball or jump into the pool over and over. My foster dad swims with me every day and it’s the best part of my day! I love tennis balls too - the ones that squeak are my favorite. I carry one on my walks for emotional support. I’m an affectionate girl who love to give kisses. Darla is a high energy dog that would do best in an active home. She loves walks and has now learned excellent leash manners, staying right by your side. She needs a fenced back yard to play in to help burn energy. She loves playing with her Kong ball. She will play by herself or bring the ball to you to throw to her. She’s a great catcher. She also loves her other Kong toys and Benebones. She is crate trained and will often just go lay in there and sleep when the door is open. She is house trained and she rides great in a car. She currently lives with two foster fur siblings. It is best for her to not be in a home with cats. Darla previously lived with a 7-year-old girl, whom she loved. When the child was calm and just sitting on the couch, Darla would just lay beside her and chew on a toy. If she was running and noisy, Darla would get excited too. Darla would love a home with people who will give her attention, activity and exercise, and train and work with her certain issues. She definitely needs a fenced yard because she loves to run and just sniff around etc. She loves water play - whether it is a splash pad, a human swimming pool, or a sprinkler. Darla is learning manners around her people’s food. She’s not food aggressive, but is always on the lookout for a snack, whether it’s from your plate or the counter. She is learning to give her people space while they are eating at the table and has been doing well. Because of her previous history of food scarcity, she does go out of her way to find food and is best crated when she’s not able to be closely watched. Darla is a highly intelligent girl and looks to please her people and listens well. If you give her the time and attention she needs, you will get a great return on your investment! She is an incredible dog. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Darla, please complete an application and tell us more about your family.

Adopt Darla and Receive Darla's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Darla's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Darla's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Darla, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Darla's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Darla was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Darla’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Darla’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Darla’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
