About this Dog
NOTE: Penny and Kiwi must be adopted together. Penny is a sweet butterball of a chihuahua. She is 12 years old, weighs 10.3 pounds, and is mostly housebroken. Penny is shy - if she wants attention, she waits for her foster mom to pet another dog then she stands next to that dog. She loves to sunbathe, and chase birds and squirrels with her house mates. She prefers to sleep in bed under the sheets with her person but she is also ok sleeping on the floor next to her foster mom’s bed. While she is waiting for her food, she cutely dances around her bowl. Penny came into the rescue with her best friend Kiwi, another adorable chihuahua. Penny and Kiwi spend most of the day and night with each other. Penny is nervous about being picked up, so she stays just out of your reach. When you reach to pick her up, she runs to Kiwi. She is starting to relax more and more though in her foster home and is getting more playful. Thunder scares her and she wants to be next to you. She was rescued from a home with 9 other dogs so needs individual attention, which she didn't get in her former home. She walks well on a leash, loves riding in the car (except when she thinks she is going to the vet) and seeing the world go by. Penny is learning that the cat is not to be chased. While she doesn’t chase Miss Mimi anymore, she will freeze and watch her every move. A quiet discussion with her will redirect her energy elsewhere. We are requiring an all-adult home for her and we are hoping for a fenced outside space for her. If you live in the Central Florida (Orlando) area and believe you can give Penny a wonderful life and home she deserves, please complete our adoption application, and tell us more about you.
