About this Dog
NOTE: Kiwi and Penny are bonded and must be adopted together. Kiwi is a sweet female chihuahua who is 7 pounds of cuteness. She is 12 years old and mostly housetrained. Kiwi is shy, but occasionally will have the courage to jump into her foster mom’s lap and give a bunch of kisses. She loves to sunbathe and chase birds and squirrels with her house mates. Although she would prefer to sleep in bed with her person, she is OK sleeping on the floor next to her foster mom’s bed. While she is waiting for her food, she sits excited with one paw tucked up. Cuteness overload!! Kiwi came into the rescue with best friend Penny, another adorable Chihuahua. Penny and Kiwi spend most of the day and night with each other. Kiwi is nervous about being picked up, so you must approach her slowly to let her know that you are about to pick her up. Otherwise, she will step away from you. Thunder scares her and she wants to be next to or on you. She was from a house with 9 other dogs so she would relish receiving individual attention. She walks well on a leash, is mostly housetrained, loves riding in the car (except when she thinks she is going to the vet) and watching the world go by. Kiwi is learning that the cat is not to be chased. While she doesn’t chase Miss Mimi anymore, she will freeze and watch her every move. A quiet discussion with her will redirect her energy elsewhere. We are hoping for a fenced outside space for her, as well as a calm, all-adult home. If you live in the Central Florida (Orlando) area and believe you can give Kiwi a wonderful life and home she deserves, please complete our adoption application and tell us more about you.
