Hi there! I'm Rutgers, and I’m a bit on the shy side at first, but I promise I warm up once I get to know you and my new surroundings. I like to take my time, observing everything around me before I dive into anything headfirst. I’m all about the slow and steady approach, so I’ll appreciate it if you let me take my time settling in. When I do get comfortable, watch out—I'm all about playtime! I can get pretty energetic and playful when I'm in the mood, and I can really go for it, running, chasing, and pouncing like it’s my favorite thing in the world (because it kind of is!). I think I’d do well in a home with older children who understand that I need a little time to adjust. Once I trust you, I’ll be your best buddy! I’m not so sure about dogs though, so it might take some time for me to figure that out. But give me a little space, some patience, and lots of love, and we’ll be a great match! For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Rutgers was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Rutgers’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Rutgers’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Rutgers’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
