About this Dog
Jake and Gracie are a deeply bonded pair of senior dogs who have built their lives around one another and are happiest when they’re together. They are affectionate, loyal, and wonderfully low-maintenance companions who thrive in a calm, predictable home where they can simply relax and enjoy being near their people.
Gracie is an 8-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback with a gentle, independent spirit. She is extremely low energy and content to spend her days resting somewhere warm — in the sun, near a fire, or on a cozy bed close to her people. She enjoys companionship without needing constant attention and prefers a peaceful environment where she can move at her own pace. She is highly food-motivated and easygoing.
Jake is an older (approx. 8 years-old) mixed breed with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He is very affectionate and loves being close to his people — cuddling on the couch, sleeping in bed, and soaking up praise and attention. While he has more energy than Gracie, now that he is older, he does best with short bursts of activity rather than long or intense exercise. He settles beautifully in the house and is perfectly content relaxing with his people or spending time in the yard.
Together, Jake and Gracie have an easy, flexible routine. They wake up when their people do, eat twice a day, and spend most of their time enjoying quiet companionship, couch time, and backyard lounging. They do not require daily walks to be happy and do well on days without structured exercise, especially when they have access to a secure yard.
Jake and Gracie are strongly bonded to each other and should remain together. They rely on one another for comfort and stability and do best as the only dogs in the home. Jake can be reactive on leash around other dogs and has a strong prey drive toward small animals, so a home without cats or small pets is important. He benefits from experienced, confident handling and a low-chaos environment. Gracie is non-reactive and takes cues from Jake, adapting well when the environment is calm and consistent.
Both dogs do well in the car, enjoy familiar people, and are happiest in a quieter household with adults or older children who can respect their space. They are not demanding dogs — they simply want a safe, loving home where they can stay together, relax, and be cherished.
Jake and Gracie would be a wonderful match for someone looking for devoted companions who value presence over activity and who are ready to open their home to a bonded pair that truly loves each other and their people.
