About this Cat

Hello Everyone!

With an extremely heavy heart I am making this post— it’s a lengthy one, if you truly care about the animal as a whole and not just as a pet please read!

Name: Beanie Location: Windsor, Connecticut Age: 4 Sex: Female (Spayed) Weight: 8-10ish lbs Breed: Unknown Tabby mix Behavior: “Special Needs” Vaccinations: Does not have— does not need, she’s in a and requires a single pet home and is an strictly indoor cat (the dog she was housed with is fully vaxxed and doesn’t interact with other unknown animals) Not good with: Other Dogs and Cats Good with: Adults and Kids About: Beanie is an odd one— I will be be brutally honest in this post. She is NOT for a beginner cat owner and NEEDS the proper care and attention as she is extremely sensitive. I have had Beanie for around a year and a half, I got her from my sister who had taken in a litter of kittens that she found abandoned off the side of the road. She along with her siblings, she was left in a crate at the age of 3 weeks with no mother, this is important— She was then brought into a home with 10 other cats (not an ideal situation at all) and was raised in a rather chaotic environment until she was given to me. She never had a mother who disciplined her or taught her how to “cat” and so she has some issues— she is not great at cleaning herself, she doesn’t understand when you discipline her— it means nothing to her, she doesn’t like forced physical contact. Essentially she has traits of a feral cat, but is extremely high maintenance at the same time.. It’s absolutely necessary that she’s always got fresh clean water (preferably a running fountain type) along with fresh clean food (in a slow feeder) and a very well kept, clean and tidy litter box. Shes listed as special needs because she’s for unknown reasons extremely mentally/emotionally sensitive. If her routine is thrown off in the slightest she will stress pee on couches, beds, ottomans, clothes, etc.— Yes, she WILL PEE. That alone throws many people off.. and please if you don’t think you can accurately accommodate her for the rest of her life please keep scrolling. I have immense love for this cat and we have a deep bond. Unfortunately my lifestyle doesn’t allow for me to accommodate her like she deserves and I feel she deserves better. I am very strict about where she can go to— if my lifestyle fit her needs I would not be getting rid of her Throughout the year and a half that I’ve had her I’ve done everything I can to try to make things positive for her— completely getting rid of my social life, pheromone diffusers, multiple litter boxes around the house, keeping her separate from the dog that I own, washing her water fountain and replacing with fresh iced water daily, keeping her food fresh and mat clean, keeping her litter box crystal clean and keeping the litter evenly distributed, etc. I even moved her from my parents house into where my boyfriend and I live and kept the dog at my parents, she was doing great for about a month and then after us being out of the house for most of the day, only to of then come home for just a short few minutes before we left again (late in the night) to get food, we came home for the night and found she had fully emptied her bladder on the couch, in between the cushions. Where we live, we rent… we cannot have cat pee or the smell of cat pee running rampant through our home, and it’s just not a trait I can accommodate any longer… She is ruining our things and it’s just unacceptable at this point. She needs somewhere, where she can pee on things— not because she wants to but because it is inevitable. It will happen if she gets stressed out in the slightest way and I’m convinced there’s nothing that can be done about it. I don’t think it’s right to put her down for such reasons, she’s an amazing cat otherwise— she is extremely affectionate… at first she is shy and won’t want anything to do with you, but if you put in the effort and just sit there quietly in a room with her she will eventually come out and become your best friend. She loves to sit on your lap, sleep on your chest, rub her face on yours, cuddles, get kisses and pets, and adores her cheeks and chin getting scratches, she’s very vocal and will talk to you all day long, and LOVES to play!

I think I’ll leave it there… there’s so much more to say about her and this post alone does not cover it all but it is a good insight into who Beanie is and what she needs. PLEASE DONT COMMENT IF YOU DONT HAVE A PLACE THAT CAN PERFECTLY ACCOMMODATE HER

Will not tolerate hearing that she’s been rehomed to somewhere else or brought to a shelter. If it doesn’t work out I will take her back and figure something else out, I do not want her ending up in uncaring hands.

Thank you, please share this post if you may know someone who can help! Will talk more into details and will answer any and all questions you may have!

How will Beanie receive the contribution?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Beanie, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Beanie's contribution here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Beanie was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Beanie’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Beanie’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Beanie’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
