About this Dog
This sweet girl is named Scarlet. Just look at her adorable face with those long straight up ears! She is a tricolor girl with perfectly symmetrical markings. At just 9 months, she weighs 23 pounds and will probably be in the small size (Up to 30 pounds) range. She is considered a retriever mix. What is hard to understand is that she was dumped at a shelter because she was no longer wanted by her owner. She must have been confused with no place to call home. Her past cannot be changed but her future certainly can, and she is on the path of a bright future. Scarlet is good with other dogs and children. It is unknown if she has lived with cats. Structure and routine are the key components for Scarlet to be successful and to thrive with her forever family. It will take time for her to settle into a new home and schedule and for her to find her place in the family. She is leash trained! It is unknown if she has spent time in a crate or has been house trained. A refresher course will probably bring her up to speed. She will need an owner who has knowledge and/or experience working with puppies. Using the right guidance with consistency and patience, will help her with the skills she needs to master. Cheerful praise and lots of treats will go a long way in helping Scarlet master those skills. It will take time and energy, but the result will be worth it.It would be best to start at the beginning with house and crate training. Since she is like most young pups, Scarlet will probably be a quick learner once routines are established. Daily short walks (under thirty minutes) will be a good opportunity to work on reinforcing leash skills as well as socialization skills. It will be a new world to her with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along her walk. Please note: She may not be a running companion until at least age one when her growth plate closes.Scarlet will also appreciate free time in a secure back yard. Keeping her mind active with activities that provide physical and mental stimulation will prevent boredom. Could she be a future frisbee player? Are you willing to work with this pup so that she can once again feel wanted and loved? If yes, read on.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Scarlet is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

Adopt Scarlet and Receive Scarlet's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Scarlet's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Scarlet's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Scarlet, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Scarlet's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Scarlet was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Scarlet’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Scarlet’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Scarlet’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
