About this Dog
Fergus , ABMR’s very own “ strong man ,” is ready for his forever home. Fergus is both mentally and physically tough, and he needs a family who will continue the mental and physical stimulation as well as the structure his fosters have offered to help him be his best Malinois self. HE ABSOLUTELY LOVES PEOPLE AND THE AFFECTION THEY OFFER. He has even become the morning greeter at the neighborhood kidney dialysis center! After living in an outdoor kennel for several years when his owner passed away, Fergus was connected with ABMR by a good samaritan. Because he had only been watered through a hole in his enclosure and had kibble spread onto the ground, Fergus decided he needed a self-pacification bowl. Think of a child and the blanky they carry everywhere. This is what a bowl was to Fergus. As a result, he would tip bowls over and empty them in order to carry it in his mouth, not wanting to relinquish his grip. He’s worked on that and can now drink and eat from a bowl; he is much improved on his “give” command. Fergus has learned to co-exist with other dogs, but will need slow, controlled introductions. He is also a dog who would be smitten with an only dog situation. He will parallel play with the dogs in his foster home, but there is none of the typical Maligator bitey face shenanigans. Fergus knows the following commands: okay, give, leave it, walk, back, free, place, here, sit, enough, and bed (crate). Speaking of crate, Fergus is somewhat of a freestyle artist with wire crates , so those are a no. He will need a sturdier built crate for his safety, and we are happy to discuss what works for him. He is not a dog to be left roaming around the home unsupervised when you are away, but he will have no issue becoming your shadow when you are home to keep an eye on him. Are you ready for your new side-kick? A shadow not even Peter Pan could lose? Your ride-or-die? A new wellness partner? Fergus is your man! ***Absolutely no cats or small children will be considered.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Fergus - VA was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Fergus - VA’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Fergus - VA’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Fergus - VA’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
