About this Dog
If you love old Western movies like Shane, then you will fall in love with your own Western boy Shane from Texas. This beautiful brown 4-year-old Great Dane Mixed Breed sweetheart was brought into a shelter after being found as a stray and is now ready to settle into a loving family and home of his very own.Shane may not realize that he is a big boy (110 pounds) because he is often searching for a lap to use for one of his regular rests. Shane is easy to have around the house because he is a low energy guy who can be satisfied with walks between naps. He is fine hanging out with children, and he enjoys interaction with other dogs, so long as they do not expect too much play from him. He loves stretching out on the couch. He does not require a great deal of exercise but does need walks to develop and maintain muscle. He is a great dog who likes to be with his people. It is not known if Shane is comfortable with cats.Shane is working on his crate training and leash walking. He has experienced several transitions so calm, positive lessons with some treats for good behavior will help Shane mind his manners. Shane has already reached master status with his house training. Although he is housetrained, it is important to remember that accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. If crate training is planned, Shane requires a large crate so he can stand up, turn around and lie down comfortably for a nap. Crates must be warm, welcoming places and never used for punishment. It is not always easy to make lap room for a large dog but if you have plenty of space in your heart and home, Shane is longing to make your acquaintance and settle in for plenty of cuddling and love.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Shane is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

100% of Shane's balance will be sent to whoever adopts Shane.
Adopt Shane and Receive Shane's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Shane's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Shane's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Shane, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Shane's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Shane was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Shane’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Shane’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Shane’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
