***Staff thinks we will be ready early June. My foster family says `She is always ready to play or run around the house. So far she is pretty independent, but she still purrs if you pick her up, she has the makings of a great little companion.`*** I am not currently at the shelter because I'm growing big and strong in a foster home! You can sign up to pre-adopt me by placing a $50 choice hold. This is a non-refundable fee that does not go towards my adoption fee, but it does give you the first opportunity to adopt me. Shelter staff will contact you when Iâm ready to go home with my new family! To place a choice hold, you can either come into the shelter or call us at 719-473-1741 option 2; leave a message and your call will be returned in the order received. Choice holds are placed on a first-come, first-serve basis and only one choice hold can be placed on an animal. Due to restrictions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be able to visit one another prior to adoption. Once I am old enough to go home, I will have to be adopted without a visit. It's a lot of stress on me to be transported back and forth to the shelter for visits, which makes me more susceptible to getting sick. We want to be healthy for our new life together! Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, IRIS's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and IRIS was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, IRIS’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the IRIS’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, IRIS’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
