About this Cat
Jonah was a trailer park kitten, adopted by myself and my ex-partner in 2012. We were told he was old enough to have been taken from mama at the time, but suspect he was in fact too young. We were ignorant children ourselves, and not prepared to adequately raise an animal. My ex and mine's 10-year relationship was tumultuous. I lost contact with my friend group, and became very isolated. Neither Jonah nor us had much socialization. Being that our relationship was codependent and unhealthy, he became similarly anxious and easily overstimulated. My ex was raised in a very conservative rural place where corporal punishment was the norm for both children and animals. Suffering herself, she did "spank" Jonah for "misbehaving." He became very unpredictable, going from sweet and loving to very serious attack in a matter of seconds. He will bite and dig in. His aggression has been so severe that I have not found a local vet willing to even attempt sedation to examine him. My ex and mine's relationship ended 2 years ago. Since then, Jonah and I have lived alone in the condo we owned together. Already, I had been away most of the time, for work, and knew Jonah was suffering from being alone so much. Recently, I have started a new relationship. Owning the condo with my ex is something neither of us desire nor can really sustain financially. I have moved in with my current partner, who has a cat and two children. My ex is now a truck driver and on the road most times. I had been hoping Jonah would be able to transition to living with myself and my current partner, but it doesn't appear that it will work. He is so stressed and so easily triggered into severe aggression, just being with me in a home he already knows; he has attacked both myself and my partner more than once (after being calm and coming voluntarily to sit on her lap, rewarded with treats, with no excess petting, one of us will make a small movement and he goes into attack mode). I am struggling immensely and know he is not happy and deserves an environment where he can be truly cared for. I feel bringing him into this new home with new people and animals will not be fair to him, nor them, only create further stress on everyone. Ultimately I don't feel I am able to care for him the way he needs and deserves. I have wrestled with this for months, and feel the only chance he has of security and peace is to find a home that can provide for him, in the ways that I cannot.

After verifying the adoption, Jonah's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Jonah was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Jonah’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
