About this Dog
General Notes | Buster is a big black Lab with the heart of a teddy bear and the energy level of one after a big meal. This gentle giant prefers leisurely strolls to marathons and excels at the art of the contented sigh. He's looking for a home that appreciates a large dose of low-key love. He is happiest relaxing in the backyard with his human and canine foster family, watching over his foster siblings, or grabbing a snack! After being surrendered to the local animal shelter, this boy deserves a true forever. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Story | Buster is a total lover who adores everyone he meets! His foster parents lovingly refer to him as a "land manatee." He's the perfect WFH coworker who likes to be right by your side! He is also AMAZING with small kiddos and would make an excellent family dog. Story | Buster was surrendered to the shelter with his brother in Texas! His previous owner was tragically diagnosed with cancer and forced to surrender his sweet boys. Buster has done well in adapting and settling into his foster. Other Dogs | Buster is dog friendly. He loves to play! He's content being near his brother, but is also perfectly happy spending time apart. Bo and Buster can be adopted separately, though would prefer to stay together. Buster is happy as long as he can be near his humans!Cats | Buster has not been cat tested. The rescue cannot speak to how he would do in a house with kitties. Children | Buster does well with kiddos! He would make an amazing family dog as long as children are respectful and kind! And throw him crumbs occasionally ; ) Buster was being fostered with a tiny kiddo in Houston and was so gentle with him. He didn't try to take food from him and gently took it from the kiddo's hands when offered. Training | Buster is potty trained and is doing great in his foster home (no accidents!). He is very spry for his age and is able to jump in and out of a jeep with no problem at all! He doesn't particularly enjoy car rides though and would prefer to walk everywhere instead of drive if possible! He gets nervous when left alone and would prefer someone who is home more often than not. He has not been destructive at all, even when left alone, but will bark until you come back! Leash | Your basic lab on a leash - lots of wiggles, lots of excitement! After a few minutes, Buster will settle into a stride.Activity Level | Buster has a low-to-moderate energy level and is super adaptable—just as happy lounging around the house with his humans as he is going for a walk. He loves to "make it snow" by destroying his plushies! We don't know how, but he knows the difference between his plushies and those belonging to the kids (he's one smart boy). Don’t let his age fool you—he can still leap over couches and gallop after tennis balls with the best of them. Despite his playful side, he’s incredibly gentle and has been a wonderful companion to his foster family's small children.Health | This sweet boy had a bit too much dessert in the past and got a little chunky, but his foster family has helped him slim down to a healthy weight—he’s looking and feeling great now!Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. Adopt Bolinas / Buster and Receive Bolinas / Buster's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Bolinas / Buster's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Bolinas / Buster's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Bolinas / Buster, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Bolinas / Buster's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Bolinas / Buster was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Bolinas / Buster’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Bolinas / Buster’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Bolinas / Buster’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
