General Notes | Buzz buzz, who's the sweetest little treat in the whole hive? It's sweet Honey girl, and she's ready to fill your life with warmth and joy! Just like the most perfect honey, this little lady is pure gold – good with dogs, great with cats, and already a pro at being potty trained. After a humble start born out in the woods of rural Texas, she's absolutely buzzing with excitement to find her forever home right here in Colorado! Is your heart ready to be her honey pot? Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Honey is a bit timid and shy at first, but settles in and is very loving. She LOVES to play with other dogs, but gets timid around new people. She is still adjusting to the big world around her after growing up outside in rural Texas! She's a petite little girl, 29 lbs when she was almost 6 months old, and hasn't grown much in the month she's been in her foster home! Her foster mom think she'll be done growing when she's around 40-50 lbs on the high end. Story | Honey and her sister Aster were found off of a rural county road with their mama in Grapeland, Texas. Mama had been dumped and had given birth, somehow surviving off of food and kindness supplied by the community with these two little loves. At around 3 months of age, local good samiaritans trapped the girls and brought them home to show them the good life. While trying to trap Honey, the family found a colony of bees in the trap and the name "Honey" was decided for this girl! She's so sweet, she's attracted a colony of bees! Both girls have slowly acclimated to living in a home with dogs and cats, and have been so lucky to grow and adjust to getting love and affection by their wonderful fosters! Now it's time for make their biggest trek yet - to find their forever families in Colorado!Other Dogs | Both girls are great with other dogs and are playful but respectful of them in their foster home. Honey is being fostered with a young dog around the same age as her and they're having a blast cuddling, wresting and chasing each other! She is also being fostered an older, grumpy dog who she adores and has been respectful and given him space. Honey finds her confidence around other dogs and would strongly prefer to go to home with another dog in the home. Cats | Honey is cat tested and cat approved! She ignores the kitty in her foster home. Children | Honey has not been kiddo tested yet, but with a positive introduction (hello, cheese and hotdog snacks!) she could do well in homes with kind and respectful kiddos. Training | Honey is potty trained and good with other animals! She is learning basic commands and is food motivated and sweet. Honey LOVES toys of all kind - soft and hard - and would prefer a home that has lots of toys for her to chew on and play with. She always has a toy or two by her side! She is quiet and well behaved once she's in the crate, but prefers being outside of the crate with her doggy and human friends! Her foster mom is working on helping her see her crate as a safe place that she'll happily hang out in even if the door is open! She's also great in the car and hops right in! She's learning that car rides usually mean she gets to chase her foster sister around at a dog park. :) Leash | Honey walks well in the leash! she will pull a bit, but she's a small gal, so she's easy to control even when she pulls! She's being fostered in a quiet, suburban apartment and is doing great! She could potentially be adopted into another apartment as long as it's very quiet, has another dog, and her future family is willing to be very patient while she settles in. Activity Level | Moderate - your typical active puppy! She has another dog in the home to play with and she does frequently! She's good about taking naps unprompted as well and cycles between play and naps like a good puppy should! :)Health Notes | Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. We want the Isleton / Honey’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Isleton / Honey’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
