About this Dog
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Colby finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). Colby | 4-Year-Old Chihuahua | Tiny Boy, Big Personality Don’t let his small size fool you—10-pound Colby is packed with personality and charm! This caramel-colored cutie has settled in beautifully at his foster home and loves being near his person. While he’s not a traditional lap dog, he’s perfectly content snuggling up beside you and resting his head on your arm like the sweet boy he is. Colby’s got a few adorable tricks up his sleeve, too! He’s known for his crowd-pleasing “beg” pose and loves to show off by dancing on his hind legs for treats. It’s his own signature version of a high five. While Colby has warmed up to one of the lady dogs in his foster home (he loooooves her!), he’s not a big fan of larger dogs and would do best with fellow Littles or as your one-and-only. He does well with slow introductions and takes his time getting to know new people and dog friends(typical Chihuahua, right?). He’s not super into toys right now, but Colby is definitely motivated by food and affection. He knows basic cues like “come,” “sit,” “no,” and “off,” and he’s working on politely accepting treats and keeping all four paws on the ground when saying hello. He’s crate trained and almost fully house-trained, especially with a consistent routine. Colby’s ideal home is calm and low-key, with older children and patient adopters who understand the quirky, lovable nature of Chihuahuas . With a little time and a lot of love, Colby promises to reward you with loyalty, cuddles—and plenty of charming high fives. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email [email protected] for more information, as we can't accept calls.

Adopt Colby and Receive Colby's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Colby's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Colby's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Colby, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Colby's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Colby was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Colby’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Colby’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Colby’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
