About this Dog
*Courtesy Post* If you have any questions or are interested in meeting Piper, please call/text/email Shannon at 530-400-7083 or [email protected]. If you are looking for your next doggy best friend, have a special place in your heart for hound dogs, and love to garden or spend time outside, may I introduce Piper - a sweet, mature, cuddly hound who would love to be the spoiled only pup in the home. Piper is primarily Weimaraner, genetically and in personality, but also has American Fox Hound and Treeing Walker Coonhound in her. She is six and a half years young, has a silky black coat, short hair, and the softest hound-dog ears you ever did feel. Piper is intelligent, independent, silly, and an affectionately sweet girl who will enthusiastically greet you with a bonafide smile or a stuffy in her mouth. She is a friendly girl to humans and has a Weimaraner’s sense of personal space, which is to say she will cuddle right up to you or partly on you, or sleep under the covers with you if you will let her. She also has a Weimaraner’s propensity to think she is human! True to hound-dog form, Piper loves the sound of her voice and will tell you all about the birds flying overhead and the butterflies and bees in the garden. Fortunately, she respects her anti-bark vibrating collar when necessary and knows to use her inside voice if it’s imperative to tell you all about the one piece of kibble that ended up somewhere under the couch! Also true to hound-dog form, she loves to run with her nose to the ground on the scent of a compelling adventure and, for this reason, cannot be trusted off leash. She walks well on leash and will happily run as fast as she can next to a bike. But she is currently reactive to other dogs so should be steered away from them or else continue in her training to be less reactive. Piper is very food motivated, which makes training easy. She also likes to work her brain with puzzles, food toys, and learning new skills. Piper is a vermin hunter and will do her best to keep rats away. But at the same time has been living with bunnies with zero incident of aggression. Piper prefers humans over other dog friends and would be her happiest self, living out her happiest life, if she were the only dog of a loving person/family with a sizeable contained yard that she can observe nature in. She is a sweet girl who would make an excellent gardening companion! Piper is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on her vaccines. She is currently living with Grandma here in Davis. If interested, the family would be amenable to finding a foster-to-keep arrangement to see if she would be a good fit. If you have any questions or are interested in meeting Piper, please call/text/email Shannon at 530-400-7083 or [email protected].

100% of Piper's balance will be sent to whoever adopts Piper.
Adopt Piper and Receive Piper's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Piper's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Piper's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Piper, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Piper's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Piper was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Piper’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Piper’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Piper’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
