About this Dog
This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, August 9th from 12-3pm unless adopted prior to the event. To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance. Adoption fee: $700 Meet Salad The world’s most lovable little mama, ready to be your new bestie! Salad is a 13 lb Rat Terrier mix who came to us from the shelter with newborn puppies in tow— and she’s been the most patient, gentle, and loving mom. Now that her pups are weaned and thriving, it’s finally Salad’s turn to be doted on and adored. After bravely navigating motherhood, Salad has blossomed into a warm, affectionate little shadow. She’s a world-class cuddler, a face-nuzzler, and a gentle soul who wants nothing more than to be near her people— ideally with her forehead pressed against yours or her tiny body tucked into your lap like a baby burrito under a blanket. She’s fully potty trained, sleeps responsibly through the night with free roam of the house (her foster calls her a very good girl), and starts her mornings with a joyful tail wag and a happy trot outside. Walks are her absolute favorite— she lights up the second the leash comes out, and struts happily in a straight line with determination and delight. She doesn’t need long hikes, just a bit of fresh air and your company. At home, she’s quiet, low-key, and content to snooze nearby, politely ask for lap snuggles, and indulge in her favorite treats— licky mats, bones, and My Woof Pupsicles. She’s never been destructive, never chews anything she shouldn’t, and has free rein of the house because she’s earned it. Salad has been an incredible houseguest with her foster’s dog, and while she doesn’t quite play like a puppy (she's more of a cozy companion than a roughhouser), she coexists peacefully and gently. She also does beautifully with cats—totally respectful, no chasing. And she's been sweet and snuggly with visiting kids aged 6 and up. She’s deeply loving, incredibly smart, and makes fast friends with strangers— often pausing on walks to politely solicit pets from passersby. While she can sometimes bark at outside noises (garbage bins! dogs in the distance!), she quiets easily and is never aggressive— just excited to tell you what she hears. After being such a devoted mama, Salad is finally leaning into being cared for. She’s no longer hiding food or sleeping on hard floors; she’s learning that life can be soft, safe, and full of love. Watching her bloom into her full snuggly, silly, soulful self has been a gift, and we can’t wait for her forever family to experience the same joy. Ideal home: Salad would thrive in a calm, cozy environment with adults or older children who can match her gentle energy. She doesn’t need a big yard or tons of activity— just a soft place to curl up, regular walks, and someone who will treasure the quiet magic she brings to everyday life. Why adopt Salad? Because she’s truly special. Because she will love you with her whole heart. And because after everything she’s been through, she deserves to spend the rest of her life being safe, spoiled, and deeply cherished.

Adopt Salad and Receive Salad's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Salad's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Salad's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Salad, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Salad's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Salad was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Salad’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Salad’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Salad’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
