About this Dog
This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, May 4th at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-3pm, unless he/she is adopted prior to the event. If you see a dog you really want to adopt, then send in an adoption ahead of time so you get the first opportunity to meet and potentially adopt. Otherwise, we welcome all to come meet our dogs! Adoption Fee: $500 Acorn is a 2 year old Chihuahua mix who was surrendered to DPS after being rescued by a good samaritan who stepped in and saved him from a bad situation. While we may not know everything about this guy before he came to us, we know that everything has been coming up "A-corn" ever since he joined our rescue! This petite dude has been working on his gains, and can’t wait to find a loving forever home to show off his amazing personality in! Below is a note from Acorn’s foster. “Acorn is a sweet and sensitive little guy who adores his chosen people more than anything else in the entire world. For such a small guy, it is understandable that the world around him is very big, but watching his confidence grow in the time he has been with me has been amazing to see. He likes to stay as close as possible to me as I go about my day and is the world’s most adorable shadow. Acorn is more of a lounger than a playing dog and is happy to snooze the day away in his doggy bed next to you as you work. This boy is so sweet and gentle and took to my house quickly. He has the cutest way of seeking attention, putting his front paws on the couch or my leg and gazing at me with his puppy dog eyes. He loves it when I scoop him up onto my lap for a cuddle. Acorn wakes up at 7:30 and heads right outside for a walk and potty followed by breakfast. He trots along next to me as I get ready for work and then snoozes next to me as I start my day, getting up when I do to make sure he doesn’t miss the chance for a treat! He gets another meal around lunchtime before his afternoon walk and dinner. We unwind from the day as we watch TV and snuggle. Acorn turns in for the night around 10 PM and happily heads to his crate to dream of treats and snuggles ahead the next day! Acorn gets along with dogs and would do well with a confident canine sibling who can continue showing him the ropes, but he would also thrive as a solo pup. He walks well on a leash but is still building his confidence around loud noises and sudden movements outdoors. Acorn is such a chill and loving companion once he warms up to you. I promise this guy will be your faithful buddy for life if you are lucky enough to earn his love!” Acorn is only an option for those with prior dog experience, with shy dog experience prioritized. Another dog in the home would likely be the best fit for Acorn. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10 and understand the needs of a shy dog.

Adopt Acorn and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Acorn's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is Acorn's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Acorn, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Acorn's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Acorn was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Acorn’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

We want the Acorn’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Acorn’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
