Adoption fee: $650 Meet Valor 1–2 year old Border Terrier mix | 28 lbs | Gentle soul with a growing heart Valor’s name says it all— he’s brave, even if he doesn’t know it yet. Rescued from a crowded shelter where he was at risk simply for being shy, this sweet, sensitive boy has been slowly learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and at home. And now, he’s ready to find a forever family who will be patient, kind, and lucky enough to watch him continue to bloom. Valor is the kind of dog who makes a quiet entrance, but leaves a lasting impression. When he first arrived at his foster home, he didn’t know much about how to “be a dog”—but with a little help from his doggy foster sibling, he’s made huge strides. He’s picked up how to use a doggy door, learned the joys of playtime, and discovered the best place to be is on the couch with a soft blanket and a warm human by his side. Mornings start around 7am, when Valor heads straight outside for a potty break. He’s mostly housetrained, and when he has access to the dog door, accidents are rare. He sleeps through the night in his crate but would love nothing more than to curl up next to you instead. He’s free-fed throughout the day and isn’t food-motivated or food aggressive— just appreciative. In the afternoons or evenings, he enjoys a nice walk. While getting the leash on is still a bit of a process (treats and patience required), once he's outside, he walks beautifully and politely greets every dog he meets. Valor is a bit of a chameleon— he can be playful and bouncy in the yard one minute, then a total couch potato the next. He adjusts to the vibe of the home and is just as happy relaxing as he is romping around. He enjoys chew toys (especially bully sticks) and, like many dogs, occasionally mistakes slippers for treasure. But he’s not destructive, just curious. Socially, he’s still finding his footing. Valor is afraid of the resident cat, who wants to play with him!, and avoids him entirely. He’s also a little wary around men and benefits from slow, gentle introductions. When he’s unsure, a soft word is all it takes— he's sensitive and deeply wants to please. Once he trusts you, he’s an affectionate shadow who will follow you everywhere (yes, even into the bathroom). He’ll offer kisses, curl into your lap, and melt into every snuggle. Valor’s ideal home is a quiet, patient one with another friendly dog to show him the ropes. He’s learning more every day, and with the right guidance, he’ll continue to grow into a confident, loyal companion. Why adopt Valor? Because he’s a dog who will love you with everything he has. His journey hasn’t been easy, but he’s still choosing trust, joy, and connection. And while he may take a little time to come out of his shell, what’s waiting on the other side is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of bond. Valor is more than ready to find his person—and he just might be waiting for you.

Adopt Valor and Receive Valor's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Valor's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Valor's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Valor, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Valor's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Valor was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Valor’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Valor’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Valor’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
