About this Dog
Meet Wishbone — A Little Dog with a Big Heart Full of HopeWishbone is a small but mighty Chihuahua mix with eyes full of stories and a heart quietly waiting to trust again. She came to us from the Devore Shelter alongside her companion Pretty Girl, both rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation. Labeled "aggressive" due to fear-based biting, Wishbone was a tough cookie when she first arrived — and yes, our bite gloves got quite the workout! But beneath the fear and hesitation was something we could see from the start: a dog who wants. She wants to be loved. She wants to be pet. She wants the treats, the snuggles, the comfort of a safe place to call home. With time, space, and patience, Wishbone has begun to open up. In our dog yard, she’s found her stride among her canine companions — making friends, finding her tail wags, and showing us glimpses of the joyful pup inside.People are still a work in progress for her. She’s cautious, reserved, and needs someone who understands that healing takes time. But she’s worth every bit of it. Wishbone would do best in an adult-only home where life is calm and predictable. Another confident dog in the house could really help her continue to blossom. She's still learning to walk on a leash, so a secure yard or private outdoor space would be ideal for her training journey. She’s made great progress: she now goes into a crate at mealtimes and knows how to retreat when she needs her space — a quiet sign that she’s starting to understand safety. We named her Wishbone, not just for her size or shape, but because we know she’s been making one big wish since the day she left that shelter — for someone kind and patient to walk into her life and help her discover how beautiful life can really be.Could that someone be you?

Adopt Wishbone and Receive Wishbone's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Wishbone's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Wishbone's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Wishbone, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Wishbone's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Wishbone was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Wishbone’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Wishbone’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Wishbone’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
