About this Dog
Hi, I am doing some reconnaissance for my son, who lives in South Lake Tahoe. My son and his wife and 5 yr old son adopted Nacho from a rescue in Truckee (I think). Nacho is 11 yrs old, 80 lbs and is a Pitty mix. Nacho loves people and kids…alot. He is very friendly, craves attention and is a bit exuberant with his kissing. He is great with sounding the alarm when other dogs, people, etc are at the door or in his front yard. He minds pretty well and “goes to his bed” when he gets carried away with licking. They have spent quite a bit of time and money for training, however it did not help with the main issue. The family issue is that where they live there are a lot of tourists and people that do not adhere to the leash regulations. Nacho is always on leash on walks, but if a non-leashed dog rushes up to him, Nacho gets quite defensive. The nextdoor neighbor’s dog was off leash, rushed Nacho and they fought. Nacho did not hurt the other dog but Nacho sustained quite a few lacerations that needed stitches. So, now they are very reluctant to take him out for walks. At 80 lbs, even my son has difficulty holding him back and he is quite physically fit. It is not fair for Nacho to live like that and we are looking for a home/ranch/property where he can run without interference from unexpected encounters. He is a very sweet and loving dog but needs a better environmental situation. I have attached some pictures for you. He is beautiful. Unfortunately, the kids are severely restricted in their activities due to Nacho’s reaction to unleashed dogs. They are an active outdoor family and have daily encounters with other dogs off leash. They want Nacho to spend his last years in a happy, stress free location. With hope that you can help,

How will Nacho receive the contribution?
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Nacho, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Nacho's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Nacho was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Nacho’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
What happens to unclaimed funds?
We want the Nacho’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Nacho’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
