About this Dog
Meet Alexandra! Alexandra came into the Shelter at the beginning of June as a shy peanut but has slowly but surely been expanding her circle of friends. The two dogs she came in with have been adopted and Alexandra is patiently waiting for the right person to come along. A staff member recently took Alexandra on a hike with her resident dog (a neutered male 6 year old 60# hound) and husband. Alexandra rode in the crate in the car quietly on the way to the trailhead. She did get a little carsick in the car (to be expected since she was nervous and just had breakfast). On the trail, she followed the resident pup along on leash and enjoyed exploring the trails. Sudden movements and loud noises were a little spooky but Alexandra gained some confidence as the hike went on. She enjoyed following the resident pup into streams and joining him on the sniffari. Having a dog that was confident and curious helped to Alexandra to feel more comfortable navigating around herself. A resident dog in the home is recommended to aid in Alexandra's acclimation. Any resident dogs should meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. By the end of the hike, Alexandra was greeting the staff member and husband for treats and even soliciting play from the resident dog. Alexandra would thrive in an adoptive home that will allow her to blossom at her pace. Things may be a bit spooky at first but with time, patience and positive reinforcement based training, we anticipate that Alexandra's personality will shine. Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Adopt ALEXANDRA* and Receive ALEXANDRA*'s Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, ALEXANDRA*'s new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is ALEXANDRA*'s current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the ALEXANDRA*, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming ALEXANDRA*'s contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and ALEXANDRA* was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, ALEXANDRA*’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the ALEXANDRA*’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, ALEXANDRA*’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
