About this Dog
Meet Kane! The big boy with a soft, endearing personality. This XL Cane Corso mix came into the Shelter and easily befriended staff and volunteers. He does have a history of spending the majority of time outdoors in his previous home but has certainly enjoyed indoor living since his arrival at the Shelter. A home where Kane could have access to the outdoors regularly with his guardian through hiking and play while also being able to come indoors and be with his people would be best in his next spot. At the Shelter, we have observed that Kane walks on leash but does pull. Adopters should plan on working with Kane through positive reinforcement based training to work on life skills and manners to make living with an XL breed dog a little easier. Kane has attended playgroup with other dogs and enjoyed playbowing and romping around. Another dog friend in the home may be right up his alley. Any resident dogs should meet prior to adoption. If you are looking for a gentle giant to be your BFF, consider meeting Kane today! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
Contribute to KANE's Stash!

100% of KANE's balance will be sent to whoever adopts KANE.
Adopt KANE and Receive KANE's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, KANE's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is KANE's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the KANE, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming KANE's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and KANE was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, KANE’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the KANE’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, KANE’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
