About this Bird
Winnie is the survivor of horrible breeding practices in the pigeon world. Much like in the dog world with breeds such as Pugs and English Bulldogs who are so overbred to have "interesting" characteristics that they suffer debilitating deformities, Winnie was bred to have an abnormally small bill. Her breed of pigeon is selectively bred to have what we can only assume to be a "vogue" look, because her bill is utterly nonfunctional at this length. It is so small that she cannot even feed herself. From the day she was hatched, she had trouble being fed due to her parents also having the same bill deformity. The hunger and suffering only continued as she fledged. She was surrendered to Oakland Animal Services and then transferred to the care of a veterinarian friend of Palomacy's. Our amazing vet friend worked tirelessly to teach Winnie how to eat for several months. Once a spot opened up within Palomacy's foster care, one of our very best fosterers took Winnie in to continue the hard work of feeding Winnie. Right now Winnie is learning to eat from a very deep bowl filled with seed so all she has to do is open her beak and hope that seed enters her mouth. Despite her physical challenges, Winnie is named as such because we know she will WIN at life! She has the determination and zest to conquer her disability. She is one powerful pigeon who will not let anything bring her down! Please apply to adopt http://www.pigeonrescue.org/birds/apply-to-foster-or-adopt/

Adopt Winnie and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Winnie's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is Winnie's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Winnie, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Winnie's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Winnie was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Winnie’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
"The fun and friendly internet currency."
Dogecoin sets itself apart from other digital currencies with an amazing, vibrant community made up of friendly folks just like you. Dogecoin is a decentralized, peer-to-peer digital currency that enables you to easily send money online.
Learn more about it on youtube or at dogecoin.com.
We want the Winnie’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Winnie’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
