About this Dog

We adopted Key as a rescue at five weeks old. We were told the mother was a black lab. She was born around January 15, 2023. As she grew older we believe her to be a cattle dog. She is very high energy and uses her mouth to communicate. She chews on things still, not shoes though! Sweatshirts, towels, blankets and linens of sorts. When you catch her she usually drops it and runs away - she knows. Sometimes she will take it with her and play keep away. We hired a trainer in December and we learned commands. She knows: Sit, Stay/Wait, Leave it, Down/Off (as in off the furniture or person and down the stairs), Shake, High Five. We play hide the ball and we ask her Where’s your ball and she will look for it. Plays fetch for the most part - working on Hand as in put the ball in my hand - she sometimes does it. We are also working on Lay Down or Relax. If you put out a towel or blanket on the ground she will lay on it - from 1 second to 1 hour. When it’s night time or we are leaving we say Kennel and point and she gets in then we give her a treat. She goes potty in the house every once in a while, when outside she has her spots. She jumps and uses her mouth to communicate and it hurts when she is excited and hard to calm down. When we are unable to use commands or distractions to calm her we pick her up and put her in a kennel or outside. You must always watch her. She will eat food off the counter and chew things up. And again she bites to get your attention. She is rough when you are rough so my advice is never get rough with her even in play. We have a 5 year old son and she is good with him. Play bites every once in a while and ankle nips when he rides his bike or scooter around. We do not have another dog but when she has met other dogs she is very confident and playful. We have an indoor rabbit and she has gotten better but still chases every once in a while. She is definitely trainable. She has not ever been around cows or horses but I believe she would thrive in that type of environment.

Adopt Key and Receive Dogecoin

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Key's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).

How will Key receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Key, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Key's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Key was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Key’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Key’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Key’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
