About this Dog
Meet Chestnut! Chestnut is a sweet girl who has overcome many obstacles at a young age. She found herself in a high kill shelter in Downey. Shortly after arriving it was learned that she was pregnant and gave birth to 7 puppies. She was placed on the euthanasia list due to her fearfulness and inability to allow shelter staff near her. ASR intervened and saved this little family. Chestnut immediately bonded with her 17 year old human foster sibling. She learned to enjoy her daily walks and brief social outings to the parks where she has enjoyed leashed interactions with other pups. She has supervised interactions with the small dogs and cats in her foster home and as long as they don't run she doesn't chase. She can be cautious when meeting new people but once they present her with a treat she allows some head scratches with no complaints. She has many traits of her beautiful breed including intelligence, loyalty, and friendliness. Chestnut is a very smart and athletic dog that would do great on agility courses. She still plays like a puppy and loves learning new things. Chestnut is house and crate trained. She is described as docile and would do well with another medium size docile companion or she'd enjoy being queen of her castle. Chestnut has met a number of dog savvy kids including one as young as 4 years old. She is very at ease around children enjoying cuddles and head scratches. Once she knows and trusts you she is very sweet, obedient and eager to please. Who wouldn’t be captivated by her beautiful eyes!! If you'd like to meet Chestnut, click HERE, and apply today! Her $495 adoption fee covers vaccines, microchip, and spay.

Adopt Chestnut and Receive Chestnut's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Chestnut's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Chestnut's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Chestnut, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Chestnut's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Chestnut was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Chestnut’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Chestnut’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Chestnut’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
