Meet Ruby – A Heart Full of HopeWhen Ruby first arrived at the shelter, she was underweight, and missing patches of her fur. But even then, her eyes told a story of hope. With each passing day, and a little love, good food, and medicated baths, Ruby is blossoming into the dog she was always meant to be — radiant, playful, and full of heart.Ruby is an affectionate soul who adores people. She doesn’t just enjoy attention — she seeks it out, always checking in with her favorite humans to make sure they’re near. And as Ruby begins to feel safe, her silly, mischievous side is starting to shine. She’s been caught trying to sneak extra treats and has a talent for flipping her empty food bowl upside down — a gentle protest for seconds. Her antics bring laughter to the kennels, a reminder of how far she’s come.Ruby doesn’t like to be alone, and we can’t blame her — she’s a social girl through and through. One volunteer shared how Ruby will eat her meals only if someone is nearby, content to munch away while they do the dishes. It’s those quiet, shared moments that mean the most to her.Ruby is still healing — body and soul — but she’s ready to love and be loved. Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, *RUBY's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and *RUBY was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, *RUBY’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the *RUBY’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, *RUBY’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
