About this Dog
Meet Sally Ride – A Survivor, a Fighter, and the Sweetest Soul! Sally Ride has been through more than most dogs could ever imagine, but you’d never know it from the way she embraces every single day with love and gratitude. This brave 12-year-old, 15 lb sweetheart was found drowning in a body of water, pulled out just in time by a good Samaritan. She was in heartbreaking shape – blind, matted to the skin, and clearly neglected or surviving the streets for far too long. Her hair had to be completely shaved off, and her skin needed time and care to heal. At the shelter, Sally wasn’t available to the public and her future was uncertain. But one staff member refused to give up on her. They extended her time and kept reaching out to rescues, knowing this girl deserved a chance at life after surviving so much. One of our foster families, who had just lost their beloved dog, saw a video of Sally. She was blind, shaved to the skin, and trembling… but still giving the sweetest kisses to the humans around her. That was it – they opened their hearts and home to her. When Sally first arrived, she was terrified. She craved human touch but shook with fear for days, clinging to her foster dad’s lap on the recliner, not wanting to be put down. With patience, love, and reassurance, Sally learned she was finally safe. The shaking stopped – and her trust and love blossomed. Now, Sally is living her best life! She’s a total velcro dog, a proud daddy’s girl, and she even goes on 1-mile walks with her foster siblings. Her favorite things? Mealtimes (she gets adorably vocal about food – the only time she “talks”!) Couch and recliner snuggles with her person Feeling safe and loved Sally does have a heart murmur, but she doesn’t need medication right now and it may never progress. She is spayed, healthy, and ready for adoption. At 12 years young, she deserves the retirement chapter of her dreams – one filled with love, snuggles, and kindness to make up for everything she’s been through. She’ll need regular grooming (though she’s not a fan of water – can you blame her after what she survived?), but her groomers adore her. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion and believe you can give Sally the life she’s been waiting for, please email [email protected]. Not ready to adopt? Please share Sally’s story so we can find her forever person. ✨ Sally is proof that even the darkest pasts can lead to the brightest futures. Let’s find this amazing girl the happy ending she deserves! ✨
