About this Dog
Meet the Gorgeous Turtle Dove Bird! This beautiful 2 year old 12 lb Chihuahua mix came to us from @Manteca Animal Services . This is what her foster mom says about her- "Turtle Dove’s name suites her perfectly! She is a total love bug and she adores her foster family! She is not the follow you around the house kind of dog, but she does love to have her eyes on you, and the second you sit down, it’s almost as if she wants to crawl inside of you. Once she calms down from all the love, she just wants to be curled up on your lap. She’s got a lovely energy level, where she is happy to play or cuddle all day. She is nervous meeting new people for about 60 seconds, then she’s everyone’s BFF. She is quiet on car rides and does not seem to be a barker, even when my choir of howlers is going crazy. She sometimes does a quiet warning growl if she gets jealous, but she has never acted out on it. I think she’s just “talking.” She has great manners with our cat and although she likes the other dogs, she seems like she’d be fine as an only dog as well. She has met one calm child so far and she was great with him, but she hasn’t been tested around more active children yet. She is still working on house training skills. It doesn’t seem like this was something she was taught previously, but she is eager to make her family happy so she will learn in time with positive reinforcement training. She will make a great companion for someone. As long as you are patient and loving, she’d fit into many different types of households. " Turtle Dove is being fostered in the East Bay area in Northern CA which is where she will be available to meet potential adopters.
