About this Dog
One-year-old Darby and another dog were found in a parking lot and taken to the local shelter. No one came to claim them, so they are now with Golden Gate Basset Rescue. Darby is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. He is an active and vocal boy, full of puppy energy. He is friendly, good with other dogs and was curious, but OK with a dog-savvy cat. Darby is a puppy and still needs help with his housetraining and leash walking. He uses a doggie door, but is not entirely reliable to not have accidents. (A photo shows Darby also trying out a cat door.) At a recent sleepover, Darby shared a crate with another dog and slept OK, but during his initial car ride in a crate, from the shelter to his foster home, Darby barked, panted and was very upset. So, his reaction to being crated may depend on the circumstances. He rides loose in the car without much fuss, but he does tend to get car sick. A photo shows Darby with his chin on the driver's shoulder for security.Darby LOVES to play and we are looking for a home for Darby where he has an energetic playmate to help him burn off that extra energy and keep him out of mischief. He also seems to have some separation anxiety, so a doggie playmate and companion may help him settle, too. At his age and evergy level, he will require training and a lot of supervision to help him grow into the awesome dog that we know he is.Because of his strength and high energy, Darby is not recommended for very young children, or seniors. All in all, Darby is a handsome and charming pup with a big voice and a lot of energy. Do you have a playful young playmate for Darby and the time to train an energetic puppy?

In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Darby (Lodi)’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
