About this Dog
Wesson is an approximately 4-year-old neutered male German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix, weighing around 70 pounds. His beautiful muted saddleback coloring and soulful golden-brown eyes are just the beginning of what makes this boy special. 🥹
About two years ago, Wesson was found as a stray. What was supposed to be a "temporary stay" turned into two years of country living, where he became part of a family and learned to coexist with another male dog and a cat.
Wesson is a sweet, affectionate boy who LOVES attention! He knows “sit,” is incredibly smart, and would thrive with someone willing to give him some continued training and help him put all that intelligence to work. He allows handling all over, walks well on leash, and has enjoyed trips to the dog park and the company of other dogs. 🐾
He has also spent time inside the home, where he loved lounging with his family. He had only a couple of accidents, so he may be house-trained but could use a little refresher.
Wesson has done well with older children, and because of his good-natured personality, I believe he may be able to learn to be gentle and appropriate with children of different ages with proper supervision and guidance.
There is one important piece of Wesson's story that I want to be completely transparent about.
Wesson had a single bite incident involving an Amazon delivery driver at approximately 4:00 AM. Imagine the circumstances: it is dark, a stranger exits a vehicle and approaches the home where Wesson's family is sleeping. Wesson reacted protectively. The injury was minor—a small laceration to the pinky—but it was still a bite and should be taken seriously.
Unfortunately, we are renting our home and have now been told that Wesson has to go. 💔
We desperately want to find him a new home before we are forced to surrender him to the shelter. We are willing to schedule an owner-surrender appointment for the end of October if absolutely necessary, but their hope is that someone will see Wesson for the wonderful, smart, loving dog he is and give him the chance he deserves. Wesson needs someone who will give him patience, structure, continued training, and—most importantly—a safe place to call home.

How will Wesson receive the contribution?
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Wesson, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Wesson's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Wesson was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Wesson’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
What happens to unclaimed funds?
We want the Wesson’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Wesson’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
