URGENT: Papa Needs a Home! Located in Southern California 2 Y ears Old | 21 lbs | Boston Terrier Mix (Maybe!) Adoption Fee: $300 Sweet, adorable Papa came into the Downey Shelter as a stray way back on June 6. Day after day, this 2-year-old boy waited patiently, hoping someone would see him, fall in love, and take him home. But no one ever came. Shelter staff loved Papa—he was one of their favorites—and they were heartbroken to tell us he was about to be euthanized simply because the shelter was overcrowded. He had done nothing wrong. Boston Buddies had shared Papa before, but when we got that heartbreaking call, we knew we had to act. On July 3, one of our amazing volunteers went in and sprung Papa to safety. He’s been staying at our vet ever since, waiting so patiently for a foster or forever family. Papa is an A+ car rider—quiet, calm, and content to ride shotgun. He doesn’t react to other dogs and had a kennel mate in the shelter. While the vet staff loves him, Papa needs a home where he can finally exhale and know he’s safe and loved. We’re not entirely sure how much Boston Terrier is in Papa, but we know he’s 100% adorable and 100% ready to be your loyal companion. Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Papa's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Papa was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Papa’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Papa’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Papa’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
