About this Dog
Kona is adorable with a capital "A"! Kona is estimated to be around 4-5 months old and has a big personality in a tiny package. She is a true diva who knows that she deserves to be the center of attention and loves nothing more than having some fun and enjoying affection. She is very much a little lap dog and is happiest when she can be cuddled up to someone, especially when naptime rolls around. Kona weighs about 6lbs now, and we estimate she will be around 10-15lbs when fully grown. Kona came to us from a lovely couple who took her in after her owner couldn't care for her anymore. Unfortunately, they weren't in a position to care for a puppy, so they agreed to surrender her to us, and she has been thriving in a YCSPCA foster home. Kona is the epitome of a velcro dog and wants to always be with you, whether that means being close to you while you're working or romping around in the backyard. She is in the sleep hard, play hard phase of puppyhood and needs a family who can keep up with her busy mind and body. She's a sensitive sweetheart who communicates her emotions through soft whines, particularly when she is left alone. Kona is still working on all of her basic manners and needs a family dedicated to continuing her training and socialization. She would be a great candidate for group training classes. Kona loves the other small dogs in her foster home, and while she can be shy with new dogs and people at first, she warms up to small dogs and people fairly quickly. She needs another playful small dog in her new home to help her gain confidence, and so she always has a buddy to play with. We haven't seen Kona around cats, but she may do well with dog-savvy cats with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Due to her size, she would do best with kids 10 years and older, or an adult-only home. Kona has mastered using the dog door and is making good progress with her housetraining, though she still has the occasional accident, as expected with puppies. Her new family will need to be patient with her while she is learning and be consistent with taking her outside and rewarding her when she goes potty outside. Kona isn't a big fan of being alone and does best being left with a dog buddy. Even then, she doesn't like it when her family is gone for long and needs a family who can be home with her often and can slowly acclimate her to being home alone for longer periods. Kona now sleeps through the night and sleeps in bed with her foster parents, and would love to sleep in bed with someone in her forever home. Kona has discovered her love of sunshine! She enjoys sunbathing in the backyard each morning after waking up, and has claimed a favorite afternoon spot in a dog bed that gets lots of sun. While she gets excited for car rides and going places, she does experience some anxiety in the car (likely excited energy) and tends to whine during rides. Kona is such a loving girl, and she can't wait to become your new BFF. If she sounds like the little shadow you need in your life, submit an application today! Kona's adoption fee is $400. Adopt Kona and Receive Kona's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Kona's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Kona's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Kona, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Kona's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Kona was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Kona’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Kona’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Kona’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
