Meet Yama — a One-of-a-Kind Pup with a Whole Lot of Love to Give!
Yama is the sweetest, smartest pup you could ask for! She has a big personality, an even bigger heart, and a way of making herself right at home wherever she goes.
Yama has only one eye due to trauma she experienced as a puppy, but you would never know it by watching her go! She doesn't let it slow her down one bit. She is a happy, playful, affectionate girl who absolutely loves people and is wonderful with children.
She enjoys all the best things in life — playing with her stuffies, chewing on her favorite bone, going for walks, and, of course, taking plenty of naps. She can be playful and energetic one minute and perfectly content to curl up and relax the next.
Like any dog, Yama has a few things she is still working on. She appears to have some separation anxiety and would do best with a family that can spend a lot of time with her and help her gradually become comfortable being on her own. She also plays very enthusiastically with other dogs. She has not shown aggression toward people or other dogs, but her energetic play style can be a little overwhelming for some dogs. With patience, consistency, and continued training, we believe she has plenty of potential to improve.
Because of this, we feel Yama may be happiest as the only dog in the home, particularly with a family that is home often. That said, every dog and situation is different, and the right introduction and environment could make all the difference.
We adopted Yama from a shelter where she was only days away from being euthanized. We couldn't let that happen to such a wonderful dog, so we brought her home hoping to give her a second chance. After two weeks of trying to find a situation where she could comfortably stay with friends and family, we've realized that our current circumstances aren't the right fit for her needs. Her energetic play style and need for companionship have made it difficult for her to settle into our homes.
This is not an easy decision. We all love Yama and want nothing more than to see her find the family she deserves. She has so much love to give, and we truly believe she will be an incredible companion for the right person or family.
We would also absolutely love to stay in touch with Yama's new family and be able to see her grow, settle in, and live the happy life we know she deserves. We don't want to simply say goodbye and never know how she's doing — she has become very special to us, and we'd be grateful for occasional updates and photos as she starts her new chapter.

How will Yama receive the contribution?
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Yama, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Yama's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Yama was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Yama’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
What happens to unclaimed funds?
We want the Yama’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Yama’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
