About this Dog
#A4217451 Meet Max , a 16-year-old terrier mix with all the scruffy charm of a beloved little muppet. This sweet senior has clearly been through something heartbreaking - he flinches and cowers at even the gentlest movement, as if he’s been hurt more than once in his life. Despite his fear, Max’s quiet, gentle soul still shines through, and he’s looking for a kind, patient adopter or compassionate rescue willing to meet him exactly where he’s at, and with gentleness, warmth, and care. He’ll need time, space, and a safe, calm environment to decompress and begin to trust again. With plenty of love and understanding, this sweet boy’s mellow, affectionate nature is sure to return! Max deserves comfort, dignity, and a peaceful place to rest his head in his twilight years - will you open your heart and your home to this delicate little old man? -16 year old brown Terrier mix -14 pound neutered male -up to date on all shots and preventatives, so ready to go home with you today! -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 6/18/25 as an owner surrender, but we have no notes and no idea why! Poor Max has suffered terribly, and was unfortunately surrendered during what should’ve been the safe and peaceful twilight of his life -this darling old man is like an adorable scruffy muppet - full of shaggy charm! -unfortunately, he's clearly been through something awful - the poor baby flinches, cowers, and even grimaces at any movement in his direction, no matter how slow or gentle the movement is, like he's been hit more than once in his life -sweet Max really deserves a kind, patient adopter or compassionate rescue willing to open their heart and home to him, willing to meet him where he's at and ready to go at his pace -needs lots of time and space to decompress and feel safe and secure, but once he's settled in and no longer feels threatened, Max's sweet, mellow nature should quickly reemerge -just needs love, comfort, and dignity during the twilight years of his life MAX’S VIDEO: https://youtube.com/shorts/Yon3lAqfLb For more information, contact volunteer Karen at [email protected] Photo Credit @ sashaisfurreal Look up this or other animals at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center https://animalcare.lacounty.gov/view-our-animals/ Use their unique ID NUMBER. 100% of MAX's balance will be sent to whoever adopts MAX.
Adopt MAX and Receive MAX's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, MAX's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is MAX's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the MAX, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming MAX's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and MAX was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, MAX’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the MAX’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, MAX’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
