About this Cat
Hi, my name is Jefe. I was left behind by my former caretakers when they moved. Where I lived was pretty out there. I followed dirt roads, deer trails, and cow paths dodging coyotes, bobcats, and mountain lions along the way. I finally found a place with plenty of hiding places, water, and food. I've been hanging out at this working dude ranch, the closest neighbor to my old home, since October 2024. But, there were already cats here, a brother and sister. So, I hung out on the periphery for months. There was one woman who started putting out food for me and after awhile I started to trust her. It was hard at first given my history of being kicked at, having things thrown at me, and being abandoned. I had a hard time expressing my desire to play or go away because I was scared without using my claws or teeth. But recently I was neutered and my aggressive way to protect myself is calming. I still live outside though my human friend lets me in sometimes out of the cold. I can't stay with her because she also has a cat who doesn't want an additional feline companion in her home. So far I haven't figured out what a litter box is but I am working on it. I am also learning to trust dogs though I do protect my food. I need to find a home by May 1 when this ranch closes down and everyone leaves, including my human friend. I love to cuddle and be petted softly. I enjoy food, weighing 12 pounds! I am always willing to learn and at age 2 I am pretty quick! I am looking for a home that is loving, patient, and willing to help me learn to trust again so I can fully become the lovable, joyful feline that I am. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Jefe was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Jefe’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Jefe’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Jefe’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
