About this Dog
Bear (A139076) is a 7-month old lab x plott hound mix who weighed nearly 50 lbs at intake!07/18/25 This handsome Bear was brought to the shelter due to work changes that left him home alone longer than before. Bear was not adjusting well to the change and voiced his opinion loudly, which the neighbors did not appreciate. Bear will likely do best in a house, rather than an apartment, and may prefer someone who is home more often or willing to put in the training to help him be confident and comfortable home alone. Bear is a young dog who needs some help with his training. He knows some basic commands but may need some help with his kennel training. He was said to be housebroken and will bump you when he needs to go out. Bear was said to like babies and children. He loves to play and was said to do so gently. He does like to lick babies. He prefers women to men and can be shy of strangers. He can also be fearful of other dogs at first but was said to love to play with them after slow and proper introductions. Bear has been known to jump fences. He did previously live in an area with 4ft fences, but caution should be used before leaving him unattended in a fenced yard. In true puppy fashion, he still chews, so it will be important to provide him with appropriate chew toys and enrichment. Bear has also found his Big Boy Bark! Mental and physical enrichment can help with these habits. If you are interested in this happy young guy, please give us a call!

Adopt BEAR and Receive BEAR's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, BEAR's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is BEAR's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the BEAR, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming BEAR's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and BEAR was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, BEAR’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the BEAR’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, BEAR’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
