About this Dog
Adopted! Chance Poor guy… here’s his story… Chance is an approximately 9-10-year-old male who was in the care of Animal Services after his owner became critically ill. A social worker involved in the case first contacted Merlin's Hope on Chance's behalf and described appalling living conditions. Food was so sparse, that he sadly suffers from malnutrition; Chance's only access to water was the toilet bowl. The social worker had taken pity on Chance and after walking him during a few of her visits, felt that he deserved happier senior years. Chance and his owner were removed from their home by ambulance and unfortunately during this transfer, an attendant sustained a bite. We communicated with staff members and recieved videos of a happy dog during his mandatory bite hold at Animal Services. Merlin's Hope usually doesn't accept dogs with a bite history as they may not be adoptable, but because of our understanding of chows and the specific circumstances, we decided to take a chance on Chance! Chance's shelter report described an underweight dog whose sparse coat was not only matted with urine and feces, but somehow also contained blanket fabric and leash bits. Medically an infection was indicated along with skin and tooth issues, but his kidney and liver values are only slightly out of the desired range. The bad news is Chance was deemed to be aggressive at intake and in other shelter and vet interactions. Today we pulled this pitiful-looking guy who otherwise would have been euthanized and started him on a dewormer and antibiotics. Sadly there aren't many people looking for a 10-year-chow with missing fur, a bite history, and other medical issues. We do know that Chance deserves better than to be put down by strangers in a scary environment. So, we’re giving him a chance to settle in, improve medically, and perhaps even be adopted. Whether he is with us for a day, a week, or a year, so long as he is with Merlin's Hope, Chance will be well-fed and cared for. If his final days are with us, we will make sure that Chance has known love and compassion. Please consider giving Chance a chance. He has been an only dog for a lot of years, so let’s minimize the stress and pray there’s a quiet home with no other pets or children where he can relax and enjoy the rest of his life happily. Chance is a good listener, walks well on leash, gives paw and enjoys company. He is a playful boy who just needs to be loved…fed regularly (every day) have fresh water available all the time, and let outside to do his business a few times a day. He’s low maintenance. Adopt Adopted! Chance and Receive Adopted! Chance's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Adopted! Chance's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Adopted! Chance's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Adopted! Chance, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Adopted! Chance's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Adopted! Chance was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Adopted! Chance’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Adopted! Chance’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Adopted! Chance’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
